Bollywood Theater Vindaloo Masala
Proud to be named in Bon Appétit as a "Top 10 Great Specialty Food Store" - June 2017.
If you ever find yourself in Portland, Oregon, you must stop by one of Chef Troy MacLarty’s wildly popular Bollywood Theater eateries. Chef MacLarty is doing for Indian food what Chef Rick Bayless did for Mexican fare. He’s redefining our understanding of the cuisine.
I worked with Chef MacLarty and my partner in India, Mr. Divakar, to bring together Bollywood Theater recipes and the finest spices in India. The results were so good, Chef MacLarty is now using our masala blends to prepare the food in his restaurants.
Our Bollywood Theater Vindaloo Masala is an authentic Indian spice blend featuring black mustard, coriander, fenugreek and red chilies. It complements pork, chicken, beef, lamb, shrimp and potatoes. There’s even a Bollywood Theater recipe inside the tube.

The freshest tasting spices I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Far better than the named brand models and reasonably priced to boot. This was not my first order and for sure won't be my last.
I made both the Vindaloo with pork and the chicken Tikal's Masala recipes. Both came out a bit spicy for us and the Tika seemed salty. I'm a pretty good cook, so will have to review the recipes again and make some adjustments. The flavor of the spices was wonderful however. Thank you!
The tellicherry peppercorns are the most fragrant I have found-even dinner guests notice the difference!
The tikka masala and gram masala are amazing and my curries have never been better! I will definitely be reordering! I need to look at some of those recipes on your web site.
I have loved all three spice mixes.Last night I made elk vindaloo and my kids and parents all loved it! I just purchased four more sets for Christmas gifts so I can share the deliciousness:)
Bollywood Theater Indian Masala Spice Set
Living in rural Georgia makes it rather difficult to get good Indian food, but now that I've discovered The Reluctant Trading Experiment I can make it at home. The masala blends are fabulous and remind me of the amazing flavors I've experienced in London and DC. Now whenever I have a craving, I can whip up a vindaloo or tikka with some homemade naan and bring India to the middle of nowhere.
I highly recommend this masala set and I also recommend that you give the Bollywood Theater Masala Chai Loose Leaf Tea a go, as well! Far, far superior to any "chai" latte you might pick up at your local coffee shop!
