Came really quickly. This is my favorite stuff in the history of stuff, basically. So delicious! Thank you.
Actually my grandmother came over on the boat from Scotland and I don’t recall that she ever made curry powder.. if she had, she would have wanted it to taste this good. Unfortunately, she couldn’t cook.
My first purchase was the trio set of Garam Masala, Vindaloo Masala and Tikka Masala. I have tried the first two of these so far, and I absolutely love them. Perfect aroma, strong, balanced and truly distinct from each other. Indian masala blends are usually made from a core set of whole spices and it is all about the right ratios. I was very pleased that the Garam and Vindaloo Masalas have very distinct and unique tastes, as they should. I use Garam masala for everyday cooking, and Vindaloo for a more "shahi" taste, as we call it in India.Tikka Masala has roots in India, but it is not technically an Indian curry dish, much like the infamous "curry powder", which is not a thing in India. "Tikka" is generally a tandoor preparation in India. But I am excited to try what this Tikka masala will taste like and am looking forward to experimenting with it.
I love that this shop has a good variety of whole spices that I have my eye on to make fresh masala blends. Actually what brought me to this shop was a search for South Indian dry red chillies. I didn't find them, but I found so many other goodies including Coorg coffee that has been duly added to my wishlist.
My request- if you plan on expanding your inventory, please consider adding dry red chillies (South Indian/Andhra). North Indian Kashmiri chilli gives a mild heat and good color, but South Indian red chillies is where the big boy fun is at! Also curry leaves would be a popular item I imagine. I know you are Reluctant but mostly I just want you to become my one stop shop for high quality Indian spices is all :).
I also very much love the plastic-free packaging, without making a big fuss about it. Whether the no-plastic is intentional or not, I don't know, but it is much appreciated by me and will contribute to me becoming a repeat customer. My impression of this business is that it is transparent, ethically-sourced and, from what I've read, basically a story of friendship between two people. All and all "First Class!"- as we say in India :)
