Cumin Seed, Whole
Proud to be named in Bon Appétit as a "Top 10 Great Specialty Food Store" - June 2017.
Our whole cumin seed, like all of our spices, is super fresh. We buy direct from India so nothing sits around very along. But be warned. When you open a tube, you might be susceptible to having some of the following immediate reactions:
You might immediately notice fragrant notes of lemon and mint.
You might immediately want to cook an Indian, Mexican or Middle Eastern dish.
You might immediately want to learn more about cumin. So you might look up "cumin" on Wikipedia and see that cumin is the dried seed of a plant from the parsley family. That might remind you of the late, great Elvis Parsley. I mean Presley.
You might immediately yell aloud: "Cumin get it!"

So, I'm thinking, how different can cumin seed really be? So, I put some seeds from my Indian grocery store supply down (on the white counter) next to the recently arrived Reluctant Trading cumin seeds. Not much difference...they look the same. But then I stuck my nose in each of the jars...and wow, is there ever a difference. The Reluctant Trading cumin is incredibly fragrant...whereas my previous brand is just flat dull...no scent at all detected (and I store in an air-tight jar). A completely demonstrable difference in quality....spices are supposed to be fragrant, right? Well done RTC!
