If not now, Svend?
Our beautiful Danish Modern mills were inspired by celebrated Danish artist, Svend Hammershoi. In case you were catching z’s in art history class, Svend made his mark as a Danish ceramist in the early 1900s. One of Svend’s favorite details was the ceramic groove. (But of course, you knew that!)
Our Svend Mills feature cast, ridged ceramic tops fitted onto well-honed wooden bases of lightly finished oak.
Like all of our mills, they’re built with top-of-the-line ceramic CrushGrind mechanisms. (The grinder part.) We won't sell anything else. Easily tune the grind from fine to coarse with the adjustable dial. The mills grind salt, pepper and spices too.
To load, simply hold the bottom of the mill with one hand and pull the ceramic top straight up and off.
Svend comes with a Slate Gray or White top. This is the Slate Gray Top mill. (Click here for the White top.) You might want to choose Slate Gray for pepper and White for salt. But it’s a free country, so do as you please.
You say you’re looking for a set? You won't need to svend so much. You'll save $9 if you buy the set.
Our Svend mills are casual, yet elegant. They’ll look equally good on your dining table as they do on your kitchen table.
What’s more, they come nicely boxed for gift giving.
Just say Svend!
To clean, use a damp cloth for ceramic top. The ceramic top is not dishwasher safe.
The oak portion of the mill has been oiled; it may be re-oiled with olive oil as necessary.
Grind coarse salt to help clean out oils from spices. For a more thorough cleaning, unscrew gray dial on bottom, remove the ceramic cone and soak in hot water. Make sure the cone is completely dry (24 hours) prior to reattaching to mill.
Do not substitute other peppercorn or salt brands in place of Reluctant because you know I’ll find out. Do not pass go.
