Meet Chief Executive Officer, Boris Badenov

Posted on March 12, 2016 by Scott Eirinberg

When I set up the contact page on Reluctant Trading, I added a section for those who are trying to "sue me, or worse, trying to sell me SEO services."
I listed the address of "The Evil Reluctant Trading Experiment," because of course they were confusing the two companies. I listed a fictional contact address for the Evil Reluctant Trading and its CEO, Boris Badenov. (Pictured right.)

Of course if you grew up watching cartoons like I did, you would have recognized Boris Badenov as the fictional character from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. According to Wikipedia, Badenov's name is a play on 16th-century Russian Tsar Boris Godunov ("bad enough" vs. "good enough.") He's a bad dude with an explosive temper.

Well, all of a sudden, I'm receiving mail at The (Good) Reluctant Trading Experiment addressed to CEO Boris Badenov. I'm sure Boris will enjoy using his new Capital One Spark Select Credit Card when I forward it to him in Pottsylvania.

Top 10 Alternative Icelandic T-Shirt Ideas

Posted on June 02, 2013 by Scott Eirinberg

One of the popular t-shirts in the souvenir shops here is “Iceland, The Land of Fire and Ice.” Given the amount of volcanoes and glaciers on the island, it’s a pretty good line. But after traveling around, I thought of a lot of other t-shirts I wanted to see.

Iceland. A country so beautiful, nobody cares that we forgot the trees.

Iceland. Enjoy the summer. Because winter really sucks.

Iceland. Take an extra jacket or 10.

Iceland. Where driving around aimlessly is actually fun.

Iceland. Volcanoes R Us.

Iceland. No, “Ice, Ice, Baby” is not our national song, thank you very much.

Iceland. If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes. (But don’t wait 10).

Iceland. Bjorn and his friends are really nice.

Iceland. We hide licorice in chocolate just to keep Americans from moving here.

Iceland. If you think you’re so smart, try spelling the name of our capital.
